Gas: An air like fluid substance which expands freely to fill any space available, irrespective of its quantity.
Did you know that gas occurs in the body by two ways?
1. By swallowing air
2. The fomentation of food in the colon by bacteria
Having gas and some gas symptoms is normal. but we all know too much of something isn'!
People may have problems with gas symptoms because they
have excess gas in the digestive tract
feel more severe gas symptoms, even when a normal amount of gas is in the digestive tract
- Substance that are not absorbed in the intestines go into the colon, where they are acted upon by bacteria.
- Some people that may have gastro-intestinal problems have a sensitivity to gas. These problems can be helped by over the counter remedies such as cactaid tablets or adjusting you diet.
- If you are feeling a lot of discomfort you should consult with a doctor. You may want to see a doctor if you are experiencing symptoms such as bloating, cramping after meals or are not able to pass gas.
Did you know that anxiety can cause gas?
When you know you have anxiety, there are many symptoms you expect. Symptoms such as nervous thoughts, pain, shaking, rapid heart beat and even nausea. But I bet you didn't know that gas could be one of them. When you are nervous you tend to swallow more and breathe in a rapid manner causing more air intake.
Anxiety causes stress on your gastrointestinal system. That stress may cause you to stop processing food efficiently, often processing it too quickly or too slowly. That can cause the bacteria in your body to produce excess gas, which leads to bloating. Irritable bowel syndrome may also be caused by or aggravated by anxiety, and this too can lead to similar gas issues.
Anyways just know that no matter what causes your gas keep in mind that gas itself can lead to anxiety. Can you imagine having to let one rip and your in a public place and can't?The experience of trying to hold that in would give anyone anxiety. So stay active, eat right, and when you have to, let it go. Just not in public!
