Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all are happy and safe. Today I am sharing a special post with all of you. A lot of you may not know this about me but I love to write. My favorite is poetry. I know that my blog does not get read by a lot of people but those of you who do take the time to read it I wanted to share with you something I wrote. I am working on a book of poetry and what kind of writer/poet would I be if I did not write about 2020. I wrote this poem as a reminder of all that went down in 2020 and I only hope you enjoy reading it. It will be a sneak peak to one of my poems in my poetry book this year!
2020
The world we live in is no longer the same
Everything of it we know has changed
We’ve been shut down and living in fear
Unable to visit the ones we hold dear
Jobs are even harder to come by
Unemployment is at its ultimate high
The unemployed are making more than the those working the front lines
The news reports half truths and lies
Cops killing people as people record it live
Protestors protesting for black lives
Looters looting wearing mask while giving each other high fives
As the numbers for COVID continue to rise
Kids can no longer go to school
How and what they learn will be up to you
Voting time is around the corner and will be here soon
Buying online is what we’re being forced to do
With most stores being closed you can’t buy something new
Good thing for apps that at least let you buy things used
It’s time to wake up people, stop being fools
Live your life bc you one have one
Find a hobby, exercise and have fun
If you run out of things to do you’ve won
Oh how I miss the live music, movies, concerts and malls
I can see why some people feel trapped within there own walls
Not realizing how easy it is to just go out
Enjoying nature is part of the beauty in life
Going forward and living with strife
God forbid you sneeze in public
People look at you funny and think you got COVID
Bye bye went the flu
Now people waiting to get on line for a vaccine that may or may not help you
Churches door no longer open
But why..? Think...
The government doesn't want the lord's word spoken.
